Challenge 21: Scaling the world’s highest peaks to protect access to drinking water

By becoming the first man to climb the three highest summits on each continent, Jake Norton, co-founder ofChallenge 21, wants to draw attention to the fundamental needs of water and sanitation that are required for development.

By taking on this challenge, Norton hopes to obtain funding and create partnerships to help the non-profit Water For People organization to provide reliable access to drinking water for all. All donations and profits generated from this adventure will go to Water For People and its programs throughout the world. Funding, however, is not the only goal of this challenge. The point of the travels and encounters with people is also to increase awareness regarding the basic need for water throughout the world.

With already seven peaks under his belt (out of 21 planned), including Everest, Kilimanjaro, Mt. Stanley and three North American summits, the project is expected to continue for another three to four years.

Follow the expedition on YouTube at the Challenge21 channel to see the latest videos taken by the team. Footage includes the climb up Mt. Everest and a view of the sanitation systems in place at base camp.
