Today, water is at the heart of public debate in France. Because the future of water is in our hands, both as an individual and collective responsibility, Lyonnaise des Eaux favours a direct, discussion-based approach that is also transparent. We are happy to announce the launch of “New Ideas on Water”, a 12-month work programme involving discussions with consumers and all the stakeholders in water in France, from customers, to elected officials, institutional partners, association, environmental experts, economists, and Lyonnaise des Eaux and SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT employees. Amongst other initiatives, www.ideesneuvessurleau.net is a web platform where users can share their ideas on the many ways water affects their daily lives.

Upon the closing of the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul, I would like to call for a more open and integrated approach involving all stakeholders and to advocate for the transition from an economy based on volume to an economy based on value: the issue today is no longer managing large volumes of water, but rather contributing social and environmental know-how that is adapted to the needs of communities and users.
This new edition of the Forum provided the opportunity for all players working on water-related issues to assess the advances achieved over the past three years. These are real but terribly insufficient compared to the challenges of water access and climate change! In order to meet these challenges, an integrated approach and innovation are the key to sustainable, well-balanced progress to which we dedicate the development of our professions.

A global appointment to measure the progress made over the last 3 years
The Forum is an appointment that everyone in the water community eagerly looks forward to, because it allows us take the pulse of the sector, as well as measure the progress made by one and all over the last three years, share the lessons learnt from pilot solutions deployed, and discuss the relevance of new technologies as well as new models of intervention. For us, it is all part of the much broader process of consensus that we carry out with our own stakeholders throughout the year, as part of our special responsibilities as an operator on the social and environmental levels.
